Non-traction Energy Consumption & Bill pattern

Electrical Connected Load of division is increasing day by day due to advancement of infrastructure and provision of sufficient quantity of Minimum Essential Amenities (MEA) like- Lifts, Escalators, Water Cooler etc at various stations. Energy consumption is also increasing YoY for this. But unit consumption per kW connected load has decreased YoY due to use of Energy efficient electrical equipment like-BLDC Fan, LED lights, 5 star rated AC Machines, Pump etc and percentage decrease is shown below.

Brief on Head on Generation service of trains:

It is an energy efficient power supply system for power supply to the coaches referred to as Head On Generation (HOG). Initially Rajdhani and Durantoi trains were operated in End On Generation (EOG) mode through Power cars. To reduce consumption of  HSD oil as well as minimise Air Pollution, Railway Board has decided to upgrade the technology from “End on Generation” (EOG) system to Head On Generation (HOG). LHB type coaches are best suited for adoption of “Head on Generation” (HOG) scheme as the rake integrity with these coaches, having inter vehicle mechanical coupling. As per guideline of Railway Board, coaches were modified andHOG has been implemented gradually in all trains. Presently, the below mentioned trains are servicing in HOG mode between specified stations.
