MECHANICAL (DIESEL & DISASTER MANAGEMENT) DEPARTMENT



INTRODUCTION

Sealdah Division is spread over major districts of West Bengal namely Kolkata, North and South 24 Parganas, Nadia and Murshidabad. Mechanical (Diesel and Disaster Management) Department looks after the operation and maintenance of Diesel and Electric locomotives , Disaster Management Team comprising of “A” Class ART at BGA, 140 Ton BD Crane, HS-SPARMV, Divisional Motor Vehicles, maintenance of Electronic In-motion and Static Weigh Bridge and Fire Extinguishers etc. International Train Services (Maitree Express), Bandhan Express including Bangladesh Goods services between India and Bangladesh are also looked after by this department.

Mechanical (Diesel and Disaster Management) Department is headed by Sr.DME(Dsl & Disaster Management) along with 03 Nos. Assistant Officers – AME(P) and AME(Dsl)

1.INCREASED OF LOCO HOLDING:

From 11.12.2024 sdad shed is holding & maintaining 10 nos. Additional wap7 electric locomotives to made sealdah division self reliant for providing locomtives to passenger trains. Total holding: 40 nos. Wap7

Enable division to save Path & Crew for transferring locomotives from HWH Division


2.REDUCTION OF INSPECTION TIME:

üReduction of inspection time has increased the loco outage of shed.

5.RELIABILITY IMPROVEMENT OF PASSENGER LOCOMOTIVES:

Reliability Improvement:

üGTO BUR have successfully replaced with IGBT based 3x130 kVA BUR in 02 nos. locos :

o1. Loco No- 30329on 19.07.2024

o2. Loco No- 30490on 17.10.2024

üReplacement of Failure prone M/s BHEL make out of warranty Traction Converter (SR) with M/s ATIL make SR :

o1. Loco No- 30490 on 17.10.2024

6.INSTALLATION OF HIGH REACH PANTOGRAPH:

üInstallation & commissioning of high reach pantograph in SDAH based 06 nos.WAP7 locos.
