INTRODUCTION

POH of IRS & HAL made Passenger Coaches and Wagon Repairs were started at Carriage Complex since 1926. Timber Body Saloon cars were also been periodically repaired at KPA. This Shop is credited with the glory of modification of First Governor’s Saloon i.e. RA-33. With the increase of Electrification over ER & NR, four wheel tower cars were also being manufactured and repaired at Kanchrapara. NG Timber Body Coaches as well as Bus Cars for Nabadwip- Shantipur & Bolpur- Ahmedpur service were also introduced in POH activity.


With the introduction of ICF made all coil spring with steel body coaches in the train services, the IRS & HAL coaches were gradually withdrawn from the services. From the year 1995non-AC ICF,from 2021 Non-AC LHB& from 2025 AC LHB POH Activity in Carriage Complex permanently introduced.


Presently, POH of EMU/MEMU Coaches, ICF Non-AC Conventional Coaches,AC &Non-AC LHB coaches, DEMU Coaches, SPART, Eight-Wheeler Tower Car and conversion of differentART/ARME & Camping coaches under RSP are being carried out by this Shop.
