Kanchrapara Workshop is taking HT power supply at 3 different locations from WBSEDCL source.
(i) The main power supply for the KPA workshop has been taken at 33 KV main sub-station situated at Loco Complex, which receive power from DHR sub-station with a contract demand of 3000 KVA ( from October 2021). This supply is mainly used for running both the workshop complex (Loco & Carriage) of Kanchrapara Workshop as well as KPA Hospital and other two Rly. Colonies.
(ii) The second power supply is taken at 6.6 KV HLR sub-station with contract demand of 1200 KVA from Baroda Bridge supply source, which is mainly used for running HLR and DGP colony. There is a interconnectivity in between DHR supply source & Baroda Bridge supply source through HT link to facilitate feed power from either end in case of failure of power in other end.
(iii) The third power supply is taken at HLR/River side at 11 KV sub-station with contract demand 250 KVA coming from Naihati source, which is exclusively used for running the HS pumps at River side.
The Average load pattern of Loco, Carriage and different colonies are as Loco - 1600 KW, Carriage - 1000 KW, Foreman Colony – 700 KW, Officers Colony - 350 KW, DGP Colony – 600 KW, HLR Colony – 250 KW

(vi) WATER SUPPLY
The water supply at Kanchrapara Workshop is provided by taking surface water from the river Ganga by means of 04 nos. Horizontal Shaft pumps of capacity 1 Lakh GPH each. The river water is stored at 05 nos. open ground tanks of total capacity 5X12 = 60 Lakh Gallons. Two nos. separate water filtration plants filter the raw water taking from the ground tanks and fed the filtered water to both Loco and Carriage complex. In addition to that, the filtered water is also fed to Dangapara colony and KPA Rly Hospital. There is inter-connectivity between the two filtration Plants which can cope –up water supply in case of failure of one plant.
In addition to above filtration plants, there are 08 nos. Submersible pump sets of capacity -20,000 GPH each provided in different colonies to supply water in colonies as mentioned below.
