EASTERN RAILWAY HONOURS EIGHT EMPLOYEES

FOR SAFETY IN TRAIN OPERATIONS

Kolkata, February 3, 2015

Eastern Railway instituted a new concept of monthly “Safety Awards” to honour its employees who did diligent work in improving safety in train operation.

Keeping in view, Shri R. K. Gupta, General Manager, Eastern Railway honoured eight employees whose alertness and prompt action have resulted in averting possible accident through safety award at Eastern Railway’s Headquarters, Fairlie Place, Kolkata o­n 3.2.2015. The awards were presented by Shri R. K. Gupta, General Manager in presence of Shri B. K. Patel, Additional General Manager and other Principal Heads of all Departments of Eastern Railway. The eight employees who were felicitated for their outstanding services are Shri R. S. Yadav, Station Manager, Liluah, Howrah, who shown calmness and took prompt action in reporting the accident of Poorva Express at Liluah & other employees viz. Shri Arnab Sinha, Loco Pilot, Howrah Division, Shri Pradip Kr. Das, Loco Pilot, , Shri Sanjoy Dutta, Assistant Loco Pilot, Shri Ashok Kr. Sharma, Loco Pilot of Sealdah Division and Shri J. C. Gupta, Technician, Shri Sarbe Soren, Technician of Asansol Division and Shri Munna Prasad Yadav, Trackman of Malda Division were awarded for their exemplary performance in averting accidents, detecting rail fractures and other safety related issues.

Shri Gupta, General Manager also awarded various departments for keeping their office premises clean. Putting posters, banners etc. should be stopped inside train compartments and premises for which fine & punishment will be imposed as per Railway rules.

General Manager urged upon the Divisional Railway Managers & Principal Officers to take up cleanliness as a mission and sustained effort should be made to keep the station premises, platforms and train compartments clean for comfort of passengers. He also awarded employees for best maintained Section & Office premises.

He instructed Security Department to keep strict vigil o­n miscreant activities like snatching, pick pocketing, theft of luggage etc. & look after passengers’ security & safety.

An awareness campaign has also been planned for creating awareness amongst travelling public appealing passengers to keep Railway premises clean.
