HOWRAH DIVISION CONDUCTS MASSIVE MAGISTRATE TICKET CHECKING DRIVE – ₹2.65 LAKH REVENUE REALISED

In an ongoing effort to curb ticketless travel and ensure fair revenue realisation, the Howrah Division of Eastern Railway carried out an intensive Magistrate Ticket Checking Drive today at the Howrah Station premises. The special drive was led by the Hon’ble Railway Magistrate and executed with strong coordination and meticulous planning.
A team of 61 ticket-checking staff participated in the drive, supported by 12 Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and 3 Government Railway Police (GRP) officials, ensuring smooth operations and maintaining security throughout the exercise.
During the drive, 759 ticket irregularities were detected, out of which 534 cases involved ticketless travel. The extensive operation resulted in a total revenue realisation of ₹2,65,345 through fines and fare recovery.
This special initiative reflects the Howrah Division’s proactive measures to ensure fairness in railway travel and create awareness among passengers about the importance of purchasing valid tickets before commencing their journey. The presence of the Hon’ble Railway Magistrate ensured on-the-spot legal proceedings for offenders, further strengthening the enforcement of travel rules.
