Shop No.1

Furnishing & Painting

Earlier named as ‘Erecting shop’ was entrusted with the POH of Steam Locomotive during that time. Now this shop has undertaken POH of EMU Motor Coach including furnishing, Manufacturing & Repair of different components required for POH of EMU coaches and Electric Locomotives at Loco Complex.

2.

Wheels

This shop was established to cater the POH of wheels of steam Locomotives. With the phasing out of the POH of steam Locomotives, this shop has displayed high level of flexibility by adapting to the changing environment to POH of different types of Locomotive wheels, EMU wheels, MEMU wheels etc required for POH as well as divisional assistance. Moreover, now wheel shop no-2A is also dealing with the generation of new wheel sets and supply to the coach manufacturers to comply the Railway Board Order.

Shop No.3

 

Fabrication & Corrosion

Earlier named as‘Boiler shop’ was set to repair the boiler of the steam Locomotives. This shop has displayed a high level of expertise in the field of repairing the boilers during that time. With the changed scenario, this shop has also adopted the work of heavy corrosion repair of EMU Motor coach and also caters to the requirement of Fabrication / Manufacturing of different Loco and EMU items during POH. So the name of the shop has become alias  as Fabrication & Corrosion Repair Shop.

Welding

The shop deals with all types of welding works of POH of all Electric Loco, EMU Motor Coaches, Other repair and manufacturing work in Loco complex.

5.

Shop No.4

 

IOH of ICF Conv. Bogie overhauling

IOH of ICF conventional Bogie of SDAH division is carried out in this shop. The average outturn of IOH of Bogies of non AC mainline coaches during last nine month is 42.66 nos. against the target of 35 nos.per monthfixed up by HQ/ER .

Shop No. 5

Buffer & Spring Testing

The shop is assigned for carrying out POH of Side Buffers of Locomotives and EMU MC, testing of different types of suspension spring of Locomotives, EMU Motor Coaches and ICF Bogies.

7.

Shop No.6

 

Millwright

The shop is assigned for maintenance of Machineries & Plants of Loco Mechanical shops including overhead EOT cranes, material handling equipments. This shop also carrying out maintenance of EOT cranes of Electric Loco/EMU car sheds of HWH & SDAH division. Testing of lifting tackles of Loco shops and divisions are also done.

Shop No.7

 

Tool & Template & Heat treatment

This shop is assigned for manufacturing & repairing of different types of Tools, Jig & Fixtures required for manufacturing of different components. It also does repair& Testing of Shock Absorbers used in EMU and ICF coaches.

Heat treatment of safety items like lifting tackles, hooksof EOT cranes of KPA shops andSDAH & HWH divisions alsois done in this shop.

Shop No.8

 

Railway Transport

This shop works for Loco & EMU rake placement, controlling of shunting activitiesofincoming & outgoing rolling stock & wagon movements. Mmonitoring ofcleaning and Disposal of scraps from different shops of Loco Complex is also done by the shop.

10.

Mechanical drawing & design Office

There are two sections of drawing office in mechanical Department of Loco Complex. One is Loco Drawing office which is dealing with Mechanical Drawings of all Locomotives, EMU/MEMU motor coaches. Other section is dealing with design work of all Jigs and Fixtures, tools and gauges required for POH work of Loco & EMU Motor Coaches. Beside the above, both the drawing offices are also dealing with ISO and environment management related works.

Metallurgical& Chemical

Laboratory

It deals with non-destructive testing of Wheels and axles, Bogies of Elect. Locos, EMUs& Chemical Analysis of Metals and oils.

Supervisors’ Training

Centre

RRB recruited Diploma Holder (Mech/Elect), Degree Holder (Mech/Elect), Skilled Artisan (Mech/Elect) and Intermediate Apprentice, Trainee JE-II from Eastern Railway and East Central Railway are trained at STC/KPA.

Keeping in view to equip STC/KPA with the latest technological developments, modern labs i.e. Welding, Electrical, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, C&W & Computer with simulator has been provided.
