IMS Certification
Kanchrapara Workshop, Eastern Railway got certified with international standards of ISO-9001.-2015, ISO-14001:2015 & OHSAS-18001:2007 by the Certification Body, QACS International with the assistance of the consultant, M/s Centre For Total Quality Management, Howrah. These 03 Nos certificates are collectively referred to as Integrated Management system (IMS).
Objective of IMS
a)The main objective of ISO-9001:2015 standard is to achieve a well defined Quality Management System of the organization that meets the requirements of the customers & legal requirements through a well documented procedure for Planning, Execution,and Checking& Improvement of all activities of the Organization.
b)The objective of ISO-14001:2015 standard is to achieve a well defined Environmental Management System of the organization that meets the statutory requirements related to environment and protects and conserve the environment through well documented and planned environmental objectives.
c)The objective of OHSAS-18001:2007 standard is to achieve a well defined Occupational Health & Safety Management System of the organization that meets the statutory requirements related to Occupational safety of its workers & have a well documented procedure for Management of Health services provided to its’ employees.

ISO: 50001Certification
Kanchrapara Workshop has been accredited with ISO-50001:2011 for its proper Energy Management System in the month of June 2018 and followed by a surveillance review in June 2019. For acquiring this, KPAW has formulated and adopted a Energy Policy for optimum utilization of electrical energy and harnessing the renewable energy. The Energy Policy is wide circulated to all shops and made aware to all concerned for maximum energy conservation.
Objective of ISO: 50001
To develop a policy for more efficient use of energy.

Green CoCertification
Eastern Railway Kanchrapara Workshop achieved “Green-Co silver” rating from M/s Confederation of Indian Industries after met the necessary requirements. This workshop already implemented various concepts in environmental friendliness in our operations as well as put tremendous efforts throughout the process of Green Co-rating system implementation, set up a standard benchmark to maintain our environment, preserve our resources, exploring the possibilities of re-cycling of waste, reuse the waste material and also motivate our suppliers and customers, saving Of energy, enhancement of using alternative source of renewable energy. Implemented better practices in maintenance process & wide use of natural resources. Green -Co Silver rating certificate has been awarded at Hyderabad with a validity of 3 years.

The objective of the GreenCo rating system is to assess how Green the company is and highlight the way forward to become greener.

NABLCertification
Kanchrapara Workshop, Eastern Railway reached yet another milestone in its journey as Metallurgical Laboratory of Kanchrapara Workshop has been accredited by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) in accordance with ISO/IEC: 17025/2017 in the disciplines of Chemical and testing on 20.02.2020 with validity up to 19.02.22.The reports of Lab accredited by NABL are accepted internationally.
Objective of NABL
i)Potential increase to enhanced customer confidence and satisfaction.
ii)Savings in terms of time and money due to reduction of elimination of the need for re testing of products.
iii)Better control of laboratory operation.
iv)Increase of confidence in testing calibration data and personnel performing work.
v)NABL gives more credibility to the labs.

Six Sigma (6 σ) Certification
SIX SIGMA accreditation has been achieved in the area of Reduction of failure in (i) EMU Motor Coach Wheel set (ii) Armature in Traction Motor (iii) Reduction of Cycle time in POH of Heavy corrosion Repair in Non-AC coach & (iv) EMU Motor coach Traction Motor. The SIX SIGMA certificate obtained on 19.03.2020.
Objective of 6 σ
i)Reduction of failure in EMU Wheel set.
ii) Reduction of Cycle time of HCR in POH of NAC ICF Coaches.
iii) Reduction of failure in Rewinding of Armature of Traction Motor.
iv) Reduction of Cycle time in POH of Traction Motor.

National Conservation Energy Award
Kanchrapara Workshop is awarded National Conservation Energy Award for the year of 2020 in appreciation of the achievements in energy conservation in the Railway Workshop Sector by Ministry of Power, Govt. of India. Kanchrapara Workshop received second prize in National Conservation Energy Award 2020.
