Sr. Divisional Electrical Engineer (Traction Rolling Stock), Eastern Railway. Asansol is the administrative head of Traction Rolling Stock, Maintenance Organization of Asansol Division of Eastern Railway.
He is responsible for working of the TRS Organization engaged in overhauling & assembly level maintenance of 25 KV AC electric Locos in Electric Loco Shed and maintenance of main line EMUs (MEMUs) in MEMU Car Shed. The average maintenance time span is from 12 Hrs. to 216 Hrs.
Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer (Traction Rolling Stock) being a Jr. Administrative / Selection grade officer is assisted by two Senior scale Officers viz. Divisional Electrical Engineer (Traction Rolling Stock / TRS) and Divisional Electrical Engineer (Modified Electric Multiple Unit / MEMU) and two Juniour scale officers viz. Assistant Electrical Engineer (Traction Rolling Stock)-I and Assistant Material Manager.
The Traction Rolling Stock Organization has a total manpower of 871 personnel with a break up of 75, 30, 565 & 201 in supervisory, ministerial, artisan and helper category respectively.
Traction Rolling Stock Organization has an annual revenue expenditure of about 67.61 crores in 2020-21 with the following break up :
Loco – 49.82 crores, MEMU – 17.79 crores.

Traction Rolling Stock (TRS) Organization in ASNDivision under the control of Sr.DEE/TRS is responsible for maintenance of electric locos in Electric Loco Shed & maintenance of Main Line EMUs (MEMUs) in MEMU Car Shed.

Established in May-1959 and it is the first AC Loco Shed in Indian Railways. This Shed has got the rich experience of maintaining various types of Locomotives since its inception, ranging from WAM-1, WAM-2, WAM-3, WAM-4, WAG-3, WAG-4, WAP-6 to WAG-5, WAG-7 & WAP-4 Locomotives. These Locomotives are dedicated to freight traffic except WAP-4 locos, these are equipped with modern devices as a result of technological advancement like Static Inverter Unit (SIV), Microprocessor based fault diagnostic & control system (MPFDCS), Vigilance Control Device (VCD), Microprocessor based Energy cum speed monitoring system (ESMON), Real-Time Train Information System (RTIS), Crew Voice / Video Recording System (CVVRS) and aerodynamic Crew Friendly Cab etc.
Moreover recently for the 1st time 18 nos. new 3 Ø Locomotives (WAG-9 HC class) have been allotted to the shed which have already been commissioned at this end. Latest technology DPWCS i.e. Distributed Power Wireless Control System has been commissioned for the first time in Indian Railways at ELS/Asansol in DSL/BWN based locomotive nos. 32824 & 32825/WAG9 provided with BHEL propulsion system.
