Mechanical Engineering (Power) wing is responsible for Crew Management (Diesel and Dual) Loco hauled trains over Asansol Division. Besides that this wing also maintains Disaster Management facilities as Accident Relief Trains at Asansol, Andal and Madhupur. Self Propelled Accident Relief Medical Van at Asansol and a 140 Ton Breakdown Crane. Mechanical Power Branch in addition to the above, this wing also maintains 04 Railway owned In-Motion Weighbridges at Asansol, Andal and Waria, and fire extinguishers of the entire Asansol Division

CREW BOOKING LOBBIES

Primary job of Crew booking lobby is to provide crew for diesel loco hauled trains. These lobbies not only provide crew but also keep record of their proper rest, counseling, safety awareness and learning of routes.

There are four Crew Lobby in Asansol Division

Madhupur:- Facilitates running of Diesel loco hauled Mail/Express/Passenger trains in Madhupur Giridih Section and Jasidih Dumka- Barapalasi Chandan section.

Also, provides Crew for diesel loco hauled freight train for loading in central coalfield Ltd. Giridih.

Asansol:- Facilitates running of Diesel loco  hauledMail/Express/Passenger trains in Asansol –Jhaja, Asansol- Kiul and Asansol- Barauni section.

Also provided crew for diesel loco hauled freight trains for loading in  Eastern Coalfield Ltd. J.K.Nagar and Balaji Ltd. Durgapur and military siding Panagrah and L&T at Durgapur.

Andal:- Facilitates running of Diesel loco hauled Mail/Express/Passenger trains in Andal – Rampurhat, Andal – Sainthia, Andal – Jasidih (via- Barabani), Andal – Malda – Andal, Andal – Howrah Andal, Andal – Suri – Howrah (via-Prantik) section. 

Also provides Crew for diesel loco hauled freight trains for loading of coal covering all colliery sidings (Industrial Pilots, Andal – Ukra, Andal –  Purusottampur-1 + Purusottam -2 + Madarboni + Samla + Dalurbandh +   Kottaddih. Andal- Ukra:- Shankarrpur + Bankola Andal – KJME:- Parascoal (east) Parascoal (west), Jaipuria + Nabakajora.Andal – Vimgrah:- (Kastha Sdg.) Andal – ICML : - (Via- BBI), BHN Andal – Topsi:- Belbandh, Topsi Goods Sdg. Andal – Sonachara: - Parasia, Jambanch, Basra.)

Sitarampur:-  provides Crew for diesel loco hauled  freight trains for loading of coal  to Eastern Coal field Ltd  & Coal Mines Ltd. Baraboni.

RAILWAY OWNED WEIGHBRIDGE -  

Asansol in an industrial area. A large number of private and semi-government Limited are situated in Asansol division. Asansol is the main hub of Coal sidings. There are many Coal sidings of Eastern Coalfield Limited, SAIL, BCCL, CCL etc. in Asansol division. Due to this a large amount of Coal are transported by Rakes/Freights to various locations of country. For smooth operation of weighment there are Four (04)) Railway and Twenty (20) non-Railway Electronic In-motion weighbridges located in Asansol division.

DISASTER MANAGEMENT FACILITIES              

Disaster in the Railway context was traditionally a train accident, caused by human/equipments failure, which may affect normal movement of train services with loss of human life or property or both. This is now extended to include natural and other man-made disasters. For Disaster Management in Asansol, we have two ARTs stabled at Asansol & Andal, one SPART at Madhupur, one SPARMV at Asansol and one 140Ton BD Crane at Asansol.  One mandate of Disaster Management team is to restore normalcy in train operation in the least time, while also giving priority to save the loss of human life and Railway properties to the extent possible.

FIRE EXTINGUISHERS

This wing also maintains the Fire extinguishers. Checking and refilling of these fire extinguishers are done as per periodicity fixed. 

06 Nos. 25 Kg Powder Based Wheeled Fire Extinguishers are installed at different locations like DRM office, Crew Lobby, Divisional Control Room and Divl. Rly. Hospital with fluorescent striped boundary around 25 KG FE and florescent instruction and guide board over Asansol Division. Total 1353 Nos. DCP Type Fire Extinguishers and 137 CO2 type Fire Extinguishers are procured and installed over Asansol Division and 68 Nos. CO2 type Fire Extinguisher procured under pipe line by Mechanical Power Department.

90 Nos. Automatic Fire Balls are procured and installed at all ARTs, SPARMV, 140T BD Crane, Combined Crew Lobby/UDL and Asansol DRM building.
