MARSHALL A SILVA
Divisional Commercial Manager(I/C), Asansol.
Tel(O): 0341-2304653 email: srdcm@asn.railnet.gov.in

Job Profile: Divisional Commercial Manager(I/C)/Asansol is the official in-charge of all the commercial activities of Asansol Division. His primary responsibility is to maintain and upgrade the customer satisfaction facilities, provide the passengers’ amenities and as a leader of a very efficient team of Commercial officials to act as a very important public interface with the Railway Administration thereby improving the standard of service of Railways for the division. In addition to these he is also responsible for realizing all kinds of Railway dues from all possible resources viz. passenger services, Goods, Parcel and ticket checking etc.

This division provides passenger services at 75 stations over this division under the leadership of  DCM(I/C). Every single commercial activity on the part of a customer, from planning of a journey to leaving the railway premises after conclusion of the journey, comes under the purview of DCM(I/C)’s job profile.  The devotion, efficiency, vision and administrative power along with capability of public administration can only provide satisfactory services to the 1.5 lakh passengers everyday.

Another very important aspect of Asansol division is that it is the most important freight earning division of Eastern Railway. Increased earnings against goods traffic is not possible without tactful governance. Only all-out marketing efforts under the leadership of DCM(I/C) can increase the Rail Co-efficient through attraction of new traffic in Railways. Even, only to maintain the programmed traffic from Govt. and Non Govt. heads require good liaison and mutual understanding with the commercial department, which DCM(I/C) maintains very efficiently. The control over the quality of services provided to the passengers and creation of true attitude towards the customers in railway premises can curb down public complaints to a large extent. It is a very important arena where  DCM(I/C) judges the pulse of Railway Customers as a service provider.

In a nutshell,  DCM(I/C)’s job as the head of the commercial department is to provide complete customer satisfaction in addition to achieving optimum earning performance.
