Integrated Management System (IMS)
The Management System of Eastern Railway Workshop, Kanchrapara to establish Quality, Environment, Safety & Health (QESH) policies and objectives and the processes to achieve those objectives by conforming to the requirements of the following international standards –
i) ISO – 9001:2015 (Quality Management System),
ii) ISO – 14001:2015(Environmental Management System) &
iii) ISO – 45001:2018(Occupational Health & Safety Management System)
Thus, the purpose of IMS is to implement, maintain & continually improve the quality of its processes, products & services, concern for environmental conservation & ensure the occupational health & safety of its’ employees and thereby achieve the targets with better overall quality & comply with the legal (regulatory & statutory) requirements.
ISO: 50001 Certification
Kanchrapara Workshop has been re-accredited with ISO-50001:2018 on 15.11.2021 with validity up to 14.11.2024 for its proper Energy Management System.
Objective of ISO: 50001
To develop a policy for more efficient use of energy.
Six Sigma (6 σ) Certification
SIX SIGMA accreditation has been achieved in the area of Reduction of failure in (i) EMU Motor Coach Wheel set (ii) Armature in Traction Motor (iii) Reduction of Cycle time in POH of Heavy corrosion Repair in Non-AC coach & (iv) EMU Motor coach Traction Motor. The SIX SIGMA certificate obtained on 19.03.2020.
Objective of 6 σ
i) Reduction of failure in EMU Wheel set.
ii) Reduction of Cycle time of HCR in POH of NAC ICF Coaches.
iii) Reduction of failure in Rewinding of Armature of Traction Motor.
iv) Reduction of Cycle time in POH of Traction Motor.
International Railway Industry Standard (IRIS)
The International Standard ISO/TS-22163:2017 (IRIS) is for Quality Management System applicable particularly to Railway Organization. Apart from taking into consideration of the basic requirements of ISO-9001:2015 viz. Quality Improvement in terms of the Key Quality Performance Indicators like increase in outturn, reduction in cycle time, reduction in POH Cost, Reduction in Failure & Ensuring Customer Satisfaction, IRIS will enable this Workshop to achieve even better performance through focusing Reliability, Availability, Maintainability & Safety of all activities through better Business Planning, Tender Management, Project Management, Configuration Management, Obsolescence Management & Innovation Management as per ISO/TS-22163:2017 standard.
National Conservation Energy Award
Kanchrapara Workshop is awarded National Conservation Energy Award for the year of 2020 in appreciation of the achievements in energy conservation in the Railway Workshop Sector by Ministry of Power, Govt. of India. Kanchrapara Workshop received second prize in National Conservation Energy Award 2020.

Green-Co Rating - Eastern Railway Kanchrapara Workshop achieved “Green-Co Gold” rating from CII-Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre after final audit at Kanchrapara workshop on 17.03.2023 & 18.03.2023.This workshop has already implemented various concepts in environmental friendliness in our operations as well as put tremendous efforts throughout the process of Green Co-rating system implementation, set up a standard benchmark to maintain our environment, preserve our resources, exploring the possibilities of re-cycling of waste, reuse the waste material and also motivate our suppliers and customers, saving 0f energy, enhancement of using alternative source of renewable energy. Implemented better practices in maintenance process & wide use of natural resources. The validity of this certification is from 28.03.2023 to 27.03.2026.
