Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer (Diesel), Jamalpur, the administrative head of Jamalpur Diesel shed in MLDT Division/Eastern Railway. He is overall in-charge of Diesel as well as Electric loco maintenance and is assisted by one Divisional Mechanical Engineers, two Assistant Mechanical Engineers, one Assistant Material Manager and one Assistant Chemist and Metallurgist.

Diesel Shed, Jamalpur of Mechanical Engineering department is associated with maintenance of different types of Diesel Locomotives. Presently, this shed has holding of 41 Diesel & 11 Electric Locomotives.With all performance parameters, including the most important ones like Outage, Ineffective percentage and Reliability, showing tremendous improvement and stabilizing rapidly at the traditional high performance level of Eastern Railway specializing in the fields of Diesel Loco maintenance (Both ALCO & HHP) and Electric Loco Maintenance.


Lay Out OF DIESEL SHED JAMALPUR 

The shed has berthing capacity of 16 Locomotives for maintenance of 52 locomotives – divided into Major, Medium and Minor Sections each having overhead crane and allied facilities

A small machine shop caters to all the miscellaneous works. A wheel lathe (of M/s. HEC/RANCHI make and one water Load Box plant, one ETP plant & two nos. compressor have been commissioned and working satisfactorily.

2.Present Status:

The shed presently homes 16 WDG4/4D, 23 WDM3A, 2 WDS6R and 11 WAG5 Electric locomotives.

Nos of Diesel Locomotives being utilized in Goods service: 27.85 Nos & in

shunting : 1.62 nos

  • Nos. of Electric Locomotives being utilized in Goods service: 8.9

 

There are eight three-level platforms and two hoisting pits. A total of sixteen locos can be berthed at a time under the covered shed.

 

The shed also houses a pit wheel lathe, which apart from the in-house requirement, caters to the wheel turning of rolling stock of MLDT & DNR Division.

 

The Gazetted cadre of the shed consists of a Sr. DME(D), DME(D), ADME(D), ADME (Tr), AMM (D) & ACMT (D).
