Brief Overview of B. R. Singh Hospital




B. R. Singh Hospital is named after Baba Ramrik Singh, the First Agent of East Bengal Railways in the Pre-Independent Era and established in the Year 1934.It was established in the form of Health Unit to serve the employees of the Traffic Department of Railways of Eastern Region.

B.R Singh Hospital , the Head Quarter Hospital and Research Centre of Eastern Railway is unique because of its excellent contributionin the fields of patient care and management, industrial and public health management including family welfare activities, as well as excellent academic contributions to the field of medicine at both National and International levels. Excepting Medical Colleges, all such services are seldom provided by even top corporate hospitals in Kolkata.

It is one of the few Hospitals where specialist senior doctors (IRMS & Sr. Resident) are present in the hospital round the clock in the fields of Emergency, Medicine, Surgery, Gynaecology, Anesthesiology and Cardiology.


  • A new G+5 Building was inaugurated by DGRHS/Rly Board on 26th September, 2019.New Emergency with Emergency Indoor with Triage facility and Minor

    OT is located in the Ground Floor.

    The newG+5 Building houses Gynaecology Indoor in 1st Floor, Female Surgical ward in 2nd Floor, Male Surgical wards in the 3rd Floor, OT in 4th Floor and Surgical ICU, HDU and CSSD in the 5th Floor.

  • Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for patients with Burn injury, chronic non healing ulcers, Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss, etc.: only one of its kind in whole of Eastern India

    Medicines when available in adequate amount is being given to Railway beneficiaries for two months and patients going abroad are provided for six months.
