

MECHANICAL (DIESEL & DISASTER MANAGEMENT) DEPARTMENT
INTRODUCTION
Sealdah Division is spread over major districts of West Bengal namely Kolkata, North and South 24 Parganas, Nadia and Murshidabad. Mechanical (Diesel and Disaster Management) Department looks after the operation and maintenance of Diesel locomotives, Disaster Management Team comprising of “A” Class ART at BGA, 140 Ton BD Crane, HS-SPARMV, Divisional Motor Vehicles, maintenance of Electronic In-motion Weigh Bridge and Fire Extinguishers etc. International Train Services (Maitree Express), Bandhan Express including Bangladesh Goods services between India and Bangladesh are also looked after by this department.
Mechanical (Diesel and Disaster Management) Department is headed by DME(Dsl & Disaster Management) along with 03 Nos. Assistant Officers – AME(P), AME(Dsl) and AMM(Dsl).

2.IMPORTANT ACHIEVEMENTS:

1. | After collapse of Majherhat ROB, it was essential for demolition of the Railway portion of the Bridge as well as removal of debris from site for new erection activities. A mega power block has been imposed to the section to do the work. With the active effort of 140 T BD Crane staff of this department enabled to do the work in record time and before scheduled blocking hours. |
