Railway Protection Force (RPF)
MISSION STATEMENT-
We shall:-
- Protect and safeguard railway passengers, passenger area and railway property.
- Ensure the safety, security and boost the confidence of the traveling passenger in the Indian Railways.
OBJECTIVES-
We shall:-
vCarry on an unrelenting fight against criminals in protecting railway passengers, passenger area and railway property.
vFacilitate passengers-travel and security by removing all anti-social elements from trains, railway premises and passenger area.
vRemain vigilant to prevent trafficking in women and children and take appropriate action to rehabilitate destitute children found in Railway areas.
vCo-operate with other departments of the railways in improving the efficiency and image of the Indian railways.
vAct as a bridge between the Government railway Police/Local Police and the Railway administration.
vAdopt proactively all modern technology, best human rights, management techniques and special measures for protection of female and elderly passengers and children, in the pursuit of these objectives.
Charge:-
Howrah/Security-II division is headed by Shri Amaresh Kumar, Sr.Divl. Security Commissioner/RPF and assisted by the following 03 Asstt. Security Commissioners:-

Jurisdiction
The jurisdiction of Howrah /Security (II) divisionstarts from BelurRly. Station KM No. 06/01 and co-terminates with rest of the DRM/Howrah`s jurisdiction. To facilitate the working, the division has been divided into three parts, each headed by Asstt. Security Commissioner. The RPF Posts under the command of each ASCs are-

New responsibilities.
After amendment of Railway Act and RPF Act, RPF has undertaken the new responsibilities of escorting of trains wef.01.07.2004 and Howrah/Security (II) is escorting 25 nos. of mail/ express/ passenger trains at present. No incident of Robbery/dacoity has been reported so far in the trains escorted by Howrah/ Security (II) division.
