On 29thNov. 2014, 3rd IRAS Day was celebrated in Kolkata at ‘the Riviera’ on the banks of Hooghly River. IRAS Officers from Eastern Railway, South Eastern Railway & Metro Railway attended the programme.

The celebration commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the      senior most IRAS officers of the three Railways.

The inaugural address was delivered by Sri Sanjoy Mookerjee, FA & CAO/ER. While taking the gathering through the history of the IRAS since the inception of the service, Sri Mookerjee underlined the need for the IRAS Officers to keep themselves professionally updated with the latest innovations in technology and the changing scenario within the organisation. Since with restructuring and delegation of authority, the role of finance is bound to become progressively more and more important, he underlined the necessity of IRAS Officers to gear up to meet the concurrent challenges.

He read out excerpts from ‘wings of fire’, an autobiography of our ex-president, Sri A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, which stresses the importance of humility and the need to draw lines between firmness and harshness, between leadership and bullying, between discipline and vindictiveness.

Sri Vijay Kumar, FA & CAO/HQ/South Eastern Railway mentioned the need of becoming techno friendly as IT is continuously making changes into our working sphere.
