NOTORIOUS CRIMINAL OF THEFT OF PASSENGER BELONGINGS APPREHENDED BY RPF/ER

Kolkata, April 11, 2021:

The Crime Prevention & Detection Squad during surveillance from CCTV Control Room, Howrah recently, spotted o­ne accused person who was trying to pickpocket a passenger. The team flung into action, relayed this information among other o­n duty plainclothes members present at the station area. After committing pickpocket, the accused tried to flee away but he was challenged, chased and nabbed with stolen wallet. o­n being asked, he disclosed his identity.

On further interrogation, he voluntarily confessed his guilt and also revealed that he has been involved in many passenger related crimes previously. During thorough interrogation he further informed that he along with his associates had assembled with deadly weapons at platform no. 15 of Howrah station for committing dacoity in local/express trains but could not succeed. 

Immediately, the information was shared with GRP/Howrah and a joint team of RPF and GRP/Howrah was formed and conducted a raid at the said place. As a result, four of his associates were arrested. Some deadly weapons including o­ne steel made knife, two iron made bojali, o­ne iron rod and a cycle chain were also seized from their possession.

All the accused persons were handed over to GRP/Howrah for further course of action.
