ER’S EARNING FROM SCRAP DISPOSAL EXCEEDS RS.300 CRORE
Kolkata, March 27, 2021:
Eastern Railway has achieved a record scrap disposal having cumulative value of Rs. 300.34 Crore on 25 March, 2021, surpassing the target of Rs. 260 Crore given by Railway Board for the FY 2020-21. The scrap accumulated in scrap depots are disposed off periodically by the Stores (Material Management) department of Eastern Railway for increase in earnings as well as preservation of environment
Scrap disposal has been identified as one of the high priority areas in the recent years for generating internal resources. The major sources of scrap are from the Engineering and Mechanical departments. Various scrap materials like melting scrap, released track material including rails, condemned Rolling stock, released materials from redundant sidings etc., generated on the ER network are collected at convenient locations and disposed off through auction / tender sales etc.

ER’S JAMALPUR STORE DEPOT ACHIEVED A RECORD SCRAP DISPOSAL
Eastern Railway’s Jamalpur Store Depot maintaining continuous effort of scrap sale has achieved a record scrap sale of Rs. 19.34 Crore during March, 2021. This depot has also made a record scrap sale of Rs.13.57 Crore in Single Day Auction on 11.3.2021 which is highest ever in ER. The total scrap sale value at Jamalpur Stores Depot has reached Rs. 73.58 Crore in the Financial Year 2020-21.
