TRAVEL RIGHT, TRAVEL SAFE: HOWRAH DIVISION'S CRACKDOWN on TICKETLESS TRAVEL YIELDS IMPRESSIVE RESULTS

Kolkata, July 4, 2024:

In a remarkable endeavour to curb the malpractice of ticketless traveling by some commuters, the ticket checking staff of Howrah Division, Eastern Railway, has struck a massive blow against ticketless travel, recovering a whopping Rs. 81,31,086 in fines and fares over just 10 days (June 21-30, 2024)!

The dedicated team detected an astonishing 23,056 cases of ticketless travel and unbooked luggage, with 16,449 penalties amounting to Rs. 74,67,660 and 6,596 cases of unbooked luggage amounting to Rs. 6,60,130. That's not all - they also recovered Rs. 3,295 in credit cases!

This incredible feat is a testament to the tireless efforts of the ticket checking staff, who have been working around the clock to ensure a safe and hassle-free journey for genuine passengers. By conducting regular checks on trains and at stations, they have sent a strong message to ticketless travelers: get a valid ticket or face the consequences!

Eastern Railway urges all passengers to do the right thing and purchase a valid ticket before boarding the train. Not only is it mandatory, but it also contributes to the development and improvement of rail services.
