Press Release:EASTERN RAILWAY OBSERVED SWACHH AHAR (CLEAN FOOD) DIWAS ON THE OCCASION OF SWACHHTA PAKHWARA



Kolkata, 26 September 2023:

The Swachhta Pakhwara programme started o­n 16.09.2023 and will continue upto 02.10.2023. o­n the ninth & tenth day i.e., 24.09.2023 & 25.09.2023 of Swachhta Pakhwara, ‘Swachh Ahar (Clean Food) Diwas’ observed all over Eastern Railway through various programmes and activities.

The 9th & 10th days of the Swachhta Pakhwada designated as Swachh Ahar (Clean Food) Diwas’ for intensive cleaning of pantry car, canteen, food stalls in and around station premises, utensils, store area, food vendors and  passengers feedback of cleanliness & hygiene maintained by pantry car staff and propagating awareness o­n cleanliness & hygiene among pantry car staff and inspection by the teams of officers.

On the 9th day of Swachhta Pakhwada (Swachh Ahar Diwas – Clean Food), four Divisions of Eastern Railway viz. Howrah, Sealdah, Asansol and Malda  conducted intensive cleaning of pantry cars of various important trains, canteens with utensils of the trains, food stalls in & around station premises, base kitchens of stations etc. 

On the 10th day of Swachhta Pakhwada (Swachh Ahar Diwas – Clean Food), thorough inspection was conducted at Pantry cars of various trains by a team of officers & staff and propagated awareness cleanliness & hygiene among Pantry Car staff. Utensils of pantry cars, food stuff and its store area, base kitchen & its store area, medical fitness of pantry car staff for cleanliness and hygiene to ensure better hygienic food to be served to the passenger. Passenger feedback were also taken o­n cleanliness & hygiene maintained by pantry car staff.
