Press Release:VANDE BHARAT EXPRESS TO HIT THE PATNA-HOWRAH ROUTE ON 24.09.23



Kolkata, September 22, 2023

Indian Railways is set to enhance rail connectivity in the eastern part of the country with the introduction of the Vande Bharat Express train between Patna in Bihar and Howrah in West Bengal. Indian Railways is finally going to begin the operation of the Patna-Howrah Vande Bharat Express train. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will flag off nine numbers of Vande Bharat trains including the Patna-Howrah Vande Bharat train o­n September 24,2023 .This is the 4th Vande Bharat of West Bengal.

This move aims to provide a faster and more efficient mode of transportation for passengers travelling between the two states. Total ten (10) districts  (Patna, Lakhisarai, Jamui, Deoghar, Kolkata, Jamtara, Paschim Barddhaman, Purba Barddhaman, Hooghly, Howrah) in both the states will be covered by this train. The Patna-Howrah Vande Bharat Express train will cover a distance of 532 km from Patna to Howrah. The semi-high-speed train is expected to cover this distance in 6 hours and 30 minutes as compared to 08 hours by present existing fastest originating train o­n this route .The train will have an  average speed of 82 kilometres per hour, while the maximum permitted speed is 130 km/hr. 

The state-of-the-art Vande Bharat Express will provide the people of the region with the means to travel with speed and comfort. In Eastern Railway jurisdiction the train will stop at Jasidih & Asansol to serve these two important cities with high speed connectivity. It will also boost tourism and commercial business in the region. 

The introduction of the Patna-Howrah Vande Bharat Express is a significant step by Indian Railways to improve rail connectivity in the eastern region of the country. This semi-high-speed train will provide a more convenient and time-saving option for travellers, making it a vital addition to the transportation infrastructure in the area. With its speed and efficiency, the Vande Bharat Express is set to become a preferred choice for commuters between Patna and Howrah.
