It is the responsibility of every citizen of this great nation to serve modern India by keeping the country neat & clean. Keeping this mission in view, Swachhta Pakhwada is being celebrate all over Eastern Railway jurisdiction from September 16 to October 02, 2023 with the goal of Swachh Rail & Swachh Bharat.
Shri Sumit Sarkar, Additional General Manager, Eastern Railway inaugurated Swachhta Pakhwada 2023 by administering swachhata pledge at ER Headquarters, Fairlie Place. All Principal Heads of Departments and other officials were present in taking the Swachhta Pledge to devote 100 hours per year i.e. two hours per week voluntarily for the sake of cleanliness. They also pledged to propagate the message of cleanliness among 100 other persons around them in work place.
Swachhta Pledge was also administered in all the Four Divisions i.e. Howrah, Sealdah, Malda & Asansol by concerned Divisional Railway Managers and in all Workshops i.e. Liluah, Kanchrapara ,Jamalpur and Budge Budge by Chief Works Managers where all the officers & staff participated in taking the pledge.
The fortnight long Swachhta Pakhwada is being conducted in Eastern Railway in an endeavour to strive for a cleaner environment and to reiterate the commitment of ER towards a carbon neutral zone with cleaner environment in trains, stations, circulating areas. Cleanliness drive activities to promote awareness among Rail users and staff shall be a part of the ensuing Swachhta Pakhwada.
