Mahatma Gandhi, Father of Our Nation, dreamt of a self-reliant India which is clean and green. It is our duty to transform modern India into a pollution free, neat and clean country. Keeping this noble mission in view, Swachhta Pakhwada is being celebrated all over Eastern Railway from 16 September to 2 October, 2023 across its hospitals, health units and public premises with a goal to achieve a Swachh Rail and Swachh Bharat.
Senior doctors, nurses, and other staff at Liluah Workshop Railway Hospital, Howrah Railway Orthopaedic Hospital, B.R. Singh Hospital, Sealdah, and other hospitals and health units of Eastern Railway's jurisdiction took the Swachhta Pledge on 16.09.2023 to mark the occasion. Swachhta Pakhwada was also observed at various stations and workplaces in Eastern Railway's jurisdiction.
At Eastern Railway's Workshop Hospital, Liluah, a Prabhat Pheri was undertaken, starting from the front of the pathology department and continuing through the colony. The Prabhat Pheri was taken out in the morning with the slogan "Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat" to raise awareness among railway employees and their families about the importance of cleanliness in their surroundings. A Nukkad Natak was also organised by the Bharat Scouts and Guides to raise awareness about cleanliness in the environment. Howrah Orthopedic Hospital, Barddhaman Health Unit, Katwa Health Unit and Bandel Health Unit also undertaken Prabhat pheri to raise awareness about cleanliness in the surroundings.
Doctors, Sisters, and other Staff at health units in Barddhaman, Bandel, Azimganj, Rampurhat, and Katwa of Eastern Railway also took the Swachhta Pledge and spread awareness about cleanliness in their surroundings and communities.
Eastern Railway is committed to providing a clean and hygienic environment for its employees and passengers. Swachhta Pakhwada is a timely initiative that will help to reinforce the importance of cleanliness and hygiene in our daily lives.
