HON’BLE MINISTER FOR RAILWAYS TRAVEL TO HOWRAH STATION BY PURI – HOWRAH VANDE BHARAT EXPRESS 


Kolkata, May 19, 2023


Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics and Information Technology reached Howrah station by travelling o­n Puri – Howrah Vande Bharat Express o­n Thursday (18.5.2023). Earlier, the train was flagged off by Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister from Puri station through video conferencing o­n the same day morning (18.5.2023). After arriving at Howrah station by the Vande Bharat Express from Puri, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Minister for Railways, while interacting with the media persons, said that Vande Bharat Express will reach all the states by June this year and there are plans to run Vande Bharat Metro for short distance travel in urban areas and also Vande Bharat Sleeper trains for journey above 500 km, for which designs are under process of development. Hon’ble Minister for Railways also mentioned that this indigenously built Vande Bharat Express train is a pride of India and all should maintain and preserve it neat & clean. The Government will not tolerate any act of vandalism o­n Vande Bharat Express trains and such incidents will be taken seriously and initiate action against the culprits.

Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Minister for Railways also mentioned that Indian Government under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister is continuously striving hard towards development of Northeastern states including West Bengal. Mentioning the concept of ‘Poorvodaya’, he elaborated that development of India will pick up the pace o­nly when the Eastern States are developed.

Hon’ble Minister for Railways elaborated that, Hon’ble Prime Minister Modi ji is utmost concerned about the development of eastern states. There is a see change in the allocation for Railways in West Bengal after 2014 which is evident from the total outlay for Railways. Before 2014, the budget outlay for Railways was about ₹4,000 crores which has increased to ₹11,970 crores in 2023-24. This mammoth growth of investment for Railways in West Bengal will make a see change to bring forth a dawn of development for West Bengal.
