As a part of the Railway Ministry’s instructions for face lifting of 15 selected stations under Amrit Bharat Station phase-I, Divisional Railway Manager, Howrah, alongwith Divisional officers inspected Dankuni, Barddhaman and Chandannagar stations on 10.03.2023. The main objective of this inspection aims at improvement of second entry of the station building, traffic circulating area, interiors, waiting halls, toilets, furniture, central FOB with ramps, amenities for Divyangjans, sustainable and environment friendly solutions, provision of ballast less tracks, Roof Plazas, lifts & escalators as per requirement etc. to serve passengers with world-class facilities.
Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister of Railways, has recently announced the launching of Amrit Bharat Station Scheme for bringing all facilities under o¬ne roof for convenience of the passengers & rail users. Presently, the scheme covers 1275 stations for upgradation/modernization over Indian Railways. Under this scheme, 94 stations in West Bengal, 86 in Bihar & 57 stations in Jharkhand are earmarked for development out of which 60 stations are in Eastern Railway network.
The following 15 stations in Howrah Division have been selected for Amrit Bharat station scheme for development:
1) Barddhaman, 2) Rampurhat, 3) Bolpur, 4) Nabadwipdham, 5) Khagraghat Road,
6) Katwa, 7) Tarakeswar, 8) Seoraphuli, 9) Bally, 10) Azimganj Jn., 11) Dankuni, 12) Sainthia, 13) Chandannagar. 14) Pakur, & 15) Ambika Kalna.
Amrit Bharat Station scheme envisages development of stations o¬n a continuous basis with a long-term approach. It involves preparation of Master Plans and their implementation in phases to improve the amenities at these stations. The scheme also emphasizes improvement of station buildings, integrating the station with both sides of the city, multi-modal integration, etc.
