WORLD DIABETES DAY OBSERVED BY B. R. SINGH HOSPITAL

World Diabetes Day is the primary global awareness campaign focusing on diabetes mellitus and is held on 14 November each year commemorating the birthday of Dr. Fredrick Banting, a co-discoverer of insulin. World Diabetes Day was launched in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organization (WHO) in response to the rapid rise of diabetes around the world. Diabetes is a chronic disease where the pancreas doesn't produce enough insulin if any at all. The theme of World Diabetes Day 2022 is “ACCESS TO DIABETES EDUCATION.
World Diabetes Day observed at B R Singh hospital on 15.11.22 at OPD Building. Dr. Rudrendu Bhattacharya, Principal Chief Medical Director/Eastern Railway graced the programme. Dr Indira Jha, MD/BRSH and other senior medical officers, paramedical staff attended the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Rudrendu Bhattacharya, PCMD/ ER emphasized on the steps to be taken to prevent prediabetes and diabetes like following strict diet, regular exercises, proper management of stress and timely medical attention. DR Sharmistha Mukherjee, ACHD/ Endocrinology elaborately discussed on the early warning signs and treatment of diabetes and also interacted with audience. The programme was thoroughly informative and the captive audience was immensely benefitted from the absorbing session.
