GM/ER LAID STRESS o­n SAFTY DRIVES, FREIGHT LOADING & COORDINATION BETWEEN GRP & RPF FOR ENSURING SECURITY

 

Kolkata, September 9, 2021

                Shri Arun Arora, General Manager, Eastern Railway held a meeting through video conferencing with all the Principal Heads of Departments, Divisional Railway Managers & Chief Works Managers today (9.9.2021) at Eastern Railway’s Headquarters, Fairlie Place. Shri Aneet Dulat, Additional General Manager, Eastern Railway was also present in the meeting. In the meeting, issues like safety drives, freight loading and enhanced coordination between GRP & RPF for ensuring security to the passengers were deliberated upon in detail.

 1)General Manager advised to review periodically the temporary speed restrictions imposed in different sections specially in the context of completion of monsoon season. Mock drills should be held at Divisional levels in collaboration with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to ensure preparedness in case of large scale disaster. He stressed o­n action to be initiated for correcting deficiencies detected in safety audit submitted by Principal Chief Safety Officer.

 2)In order to augment freight loading, GM advised that special efforts should be initiated in enhancing stone & sand loading. Karamtola siding must be made operative o­n war footing to improve loading scenario. The Business Development Units should work to identify & explore new traffic.

 3)GM congratulated all concerned departments & officers to achieve above 95% punctuality for mail/express trains. Problems pertaining to bad running trains must be looked into and corrective measures must be initiated to improve punctuality further.

 4)GM congratulated Sealdah Division for timely commissioning of automatic coach washing plant at Ranaghat. He has further directed to install the remaining automatic coach washing plant at Tikiapara, Bhagalpur, Asansol, Barasat & Howrah.

 5)GM advised that GRP & RPF should work in tandem for better coordination between forces for the sake of ensuring security for all the commuters both at station premises and in trains. Special drives should be undertaken to vacate unauthorized occupants from Railway colonies and establishments.

 6)GM puts special stress o­n speedy implementation of Hospital Management Information Services in Headquarters & Zonal/Workshop Hospitals.

 7)GM advised special emphasis should be given o­n replacing overaged & outlived Railway Hospital equipment. GM has also instructed for expeditious installation of RTPCR machine at ER’s B R Singh Hospital.

 8)GM instructed that tender should be floated by Divisions at the earliest so as to finalize car parking spaces, vinyl wrappings of coaches, advertisement etc. to boost sundry earnings. He reiterated to comply with the deadline of 15.9.2021 in this regard. Outstanding dues must be released from defaulters by all the Divisions.

 9)GM instructed that all the o­ngoing works should be completed within the specific timeframe. He instructed all the Divisions to put special stress o­n maintenance of passenger amenities so that a feel good factor can be created among the passengers while in trains and in station premises.
