•        Green Corridor created for faster movement of Oxygen tankers
•        Monitoring of Oxygen Express at Apex Level
Kolkata, May 1, 2021:
     Railways took the movement of Oxygen Express as a challenge and transporting Liquid Medical Oxygen successfully to different corners of the country to fight back the second wave of COVID-19. Eastern Railway ran its first Oxygen Express train with Cryogenic Oxygen Containers originating from Durgapur o­n Saturday (1.5.2021).
   For initiating the movement of Oxygen Express train from Durgapur,  pre-movement trial was conducted by ER for loading the Cryogenic Containers in the wagons by using cranes and its safe movement over the rails.  General Manager/Eastern Railway and all the apex officials have monitored for convenient and safe movement of this Oxygen Express train originating from Durgapur.
    Loading of 6 oxygen containers in this Oxygen Special train consisting of BLC type wagons started o­n Saturday morning (1.5.2021) at CTDI Siding, Durgapur. The train is carrying a total 120.18 Tons of Liquid Medical Oxygen in 6 Cryogenic Oxygen Containers. Each of the six containers has the capacity of loading approximately 20.03 Ton of liquid Oxygen. Total weight  per container is 28.03 metric ton = 20.03 ton  (weight of liquid oxygen ) + 8 ton (tare weight).
        The Oxygen Express train left Durgapur at about 14:00 hrs o­n 1.5.2021 and will run through a Green Corridor with a maximum Speed of 65 KMPH via Grand Chord Route i.e. Asansol -Sitarampur -Dhanbad- Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Jn.  route to Delhi. The expected time of arrival at Delhi is within 24 hours.
    The green corridor is created for the faster movement of these tankers and monitoring of movement was done at the apex level as we know that it’s a difficult time for our Nation and Nation is first for us.
      Railways transported essential commodities and kept the supply chain intact even during the lockdown last year and continue to serve the Nation in times of emergencies.
