ER’S FREIGHT LOADING UP BY 34.25% DURING MARCH 2021

Kolkata, April 30, 2021:

Eastern Railway has made significant progress in freight loading and freight earnings during March 2021. During March 2021, Railway succeeded in loading 8.31 million tonnes as against 6.19 million tonnes loaded during the corresponding month of the last year i.e. March 2020. Hence, it registers a significant increase of 34.25% over the last financial year. The main commodities loaded were coal, cement, iron ore, stone, ballast, sand and fly ash.

During March 2021, Eastern Railway succeeded to earn from freight traffic Rs.631.33 crores as against Rs.445.55 crores earned during the corresponding month of the last year. It registers a substantial growth of 41.70% over the corresponding month of the last year.

The above freight performance of Eastern Railway denotes its sincere commitment to maintain back-end supply chain effectively and to dispatch freight commodities in different parts of the country faster to suit the growth of national economy during the prevailing hour of pandemic crisis.
