GM/ER LAID STRESS o­n COVID CARE MANAGEMENT, FIRE SECURITY SYSTEM AND TIMELY COMPLETION OF CONSTRUCTION OF ROAD UNDER BRIDGES & ROAD UNDER BRIDGES

Kolkata, April 27, 2021:

Shri Manoj Joshi, General Manager, Eastern Railway held a meeting through video conferencing with Divisional Railway Managers and Principal Heads of Departments at Eastern Railway’s Headquarters, Fairlie Place today (27.4.2021). Shri Aneet Dulat, Additional General Manager, Eastern Railway was also present in the meeting. In the meeting, issues related to Covid care management in view of the deadly 2nd wave of Corona Virus, fire security system and timely completion of Road Over Bridges, Road Under Bridges were deliberated upon.

In the awake of 2nd wave of COVID pandemic, Shri Manoj Joshi, General Manager, Eastern Railway has emphasised o­n dual role of Railways to tide over the prevailing crisis. 

1)He advised the concerned officials to ensure smooth running of train services in this critical situation.
2)Staff & their families should be properly looked after so that the staff related to train operations can render proper services to the commuters.
3)It should be an endeavour of the Railways to encourage the staff & officials to vaccinate in order to ensure more safeguard and less complication.
4)Number of CCU beds has to be augmented o­n emergency basis so as to ensure no scarcity at the Headquarters & Divisional Hospitals.
5)Adequate number of doctors & paramedical staff should be deployed o­n immediate basis.
6)Availability of all necessary medicines remains another area of prime focus.
7)It is stated that there are 1506 COVID dedicated beds over Eastern Railway.  
8)Adequate number of backup oxygen cylinders are to be arranged as buffer in all Headquarters & Divisional Hospitals.
9)Hospitals should be perfectly equipped with all aspects & there should be plenty of beds with uninterrupted supply of oxygen. No disruption whatsoever will not be tolerated.
10)The Railway health system should be monitored at the highest level.
11)For the sake of safety of passengers, all efforts should be put in for ensuring masking, social distancing among commuters and complying COVID protocols perfectly. It is stated that so far 449 passengers were fined for not wearing mask.
12)ER is running 13 vaccination centres throughout the Zone and 7 more vaccination centres are proposed to be opened shortly.
13)During deliberation, Shri Joshi wants strict compliance of fire safety norms including augmentation of adequate number of fire alarm system, fire extinguishers and fire suppression at all administrative buildings including Signal & Telecom establishments.
14)Shri Joshi expressed his satisfaction over successful completion of safety drives and mock drills at different locations within the Zone.

Finally, Shri Joshi laid special stress o­n completion of construction of road over bridges, road under bridges within the stipulated time frame.
