RPF/ER RECOVERED RS. 26 LAKHS FROM A PASSENGER OF BHAGIRATHI EXPRESS SPECIAL AT SEALDAH STATION

Kolkata, April 28, 2021:

On 27.4.2021, acting o­n a source information, officers & staff of RPF Post, Sealdah, conducted secret watch at Sealdah Railway station from 9.45 hrs. o­nwards. During the secret watch, they noticed that o­ne person was walking hurriedly towards the exit gate in a very suspicious manner at platform no. 13 after deboarding from 03104 DN Bhagirathi Express Special.

On suspicion, they detained him and o­n being asked, he disclosed his identity. He was asked to show his suitcase, which he was carrying. o­n discreet interrogation, he disclosed that he was carrying hard cash of Rs. 26 lakhs in his suitcase.

After that, the detained person with recovered cash was brought to CIB/RPF/Sealdah Office for further investigation. The entire cash was seized by making inventory-cum-seizure. o­n further interrogation, the detained person disclosed that he used to run a shop of jewellery in Murshidabad district. He was carrying the said amount for purchasing gold jewellery items from Sonapatti, Burabazar without any legal documents. The detained person with recovered cash was subsequently handed over to District Nodal Officer, North Kolkata for necessary course of action in the matter.
