ER’S RECORD FREIGHT LOADING
Kolkata, April 1, 2021:
Despite COVID-19 pandemic and various other constraints in the year 2020-21, Eastern Railway achieved a record freight loading of 67.86 Million Tonnes surpassing the previous best of 67.64 Million Tonnes in the year 2018-19.
In consonance with the endeavour of Indian Railways, ER has also put all out effort for maintaining the supply chain of commodities and industrial inputs at different corners of the country during COVID situation. Parcel Express trains were ran to different directions, freight train services were continued on 24 x 7 basis and Kisan Rails were also ran to transport industrial inputs, products and agricultural merchandise to the markets and area of demand.
Concerted efforts to overcome the drag due to COVID-19 has resulted in the grand success of ER towards achieving a record of 67.86 Million Tonnes of freight in the year 2020-21.
