ER’s PER DAY FREIGHT LOADING UP BY 19.6% IN FEBRUARY 2021
•RECORD LOADING OF 1070 WAGONS IN A SINGLE DAY BY ER’s HOWRAH DIVISION on FEBRUARY 24, 2021

Eastern Railway has made significant progress in freight loading during February, 2021 (upto 24.2.2021). During February, 2021, Eastern Railway succeeded in loading 3766 wagons PER DAY as against 3147 wagons loaded PER DAY during the corresponding period of last year (February, 2020 upto 24.2.2020) registering a growth of 19.6%.
In terms of million tonnes, Eastern Railway succeeded in loading 5.63 million tonnes during February 2021 (upto 24.2.2021) as against 4.80 million tonnes loaded during the corresponding period of last year (i.e. upto 24.2.2020) which denotes a growth of 17.29%. The main commodities loaded are coal, cement, iron ore, stone, ballast, sand and fly ash.
Eastern Railway’s Howrah Division has made a new record in freight business surpassing all previous records of freight loading. on 24.2.2021, Eastern Railway’s Howrah Division alone succeeded in loading 1070 wagons which is highest loading in a SINGLE DAY in last eight financial years. Total 19 rakes were loaded. Out of these, stone chips were loaded in 9 rakes, coal in 8 rakes and railway material consignment in 2 rakes. This scintillating performance of Eastern Railway’s Howrah Division signifies the concerted team work of the concerned staff and officers of the Division.
The above performance of Eastern Railway as a whole denotes significant development in freight operation. It also proves the sincere commitment of Eastern Railway to maintain backend supply chain effectively and to dispatch freight commodity in different parts of the country faster to suit the growth of Nation economy.
